Manual drilling

A manual drilling literally gives you a picture of the subsoil. We bring up a soil sample and describe how the soil layers are composed.  This provides additional information about the nature of the soil.

Why take soil samples?

During cone penetration testing we do measure the resistance of the soil, but we do not see what it looks like.  To accurately examine and describe the soil type, we therefore take a sample of the subsurface with a manual drilling.

Visual inspection

Manual drilling is not performed very often, but it is very useful. With a soil sample or soil core, we can also visually check the composition of the soil. That’s why we recommend taking soil samples with every investigation.  This way, you’ll already know how the subsurface is composed when designing your building.

Inspecting yourself

Did you know that you can perform such a visual inspection yourself? Feel free to take a look when the foundations are being excavated.  However, do keep in mind that in this case, the inspection will only take place once the construction site has already started.
